Cutting-edge Design

Our design process has evolved over the years from traditional drawing-board techniques to a cutting-edge hybrid workflow. By integrating drone surveys, manual sketching, advanced 3D CAD software, and the latest AI technology, we deliver a unique service that is not only fast and accurate but also affordable. Experience the future of design with our innovative approach tailored to meet your needs.

Our Design Process - Part 1.

Are you ready to transform your outdoor space? Start by booking a free 15-minute telephone consultation with David. During this informal chat, we’ll identify your needs and ideas for your garden, and schedule a convenient time for David to visit your property for a personal On-site Consultation. This face-to-face meeting allows David to get to know you better and identify your tastes, opportunities within the garden and any site constraints. Here David will present his full Design Portfolio showcasing many further examples of his work compilled over a 30 plus year career in Landscape Design And Build (a small fee is chargable to cover David's time and travel expences payable on the day). After this meeting, we’ll provide a detailed written Design Fee Quotation and a draft Design Brief to guide you through the design process.

Our Design Process - Part 2.

Once we receive your written acceptance of the Design Fee Quotation, we will schedule a convenient date for our team to revisit your garden for a thorough Site Survey. During this visit, we will carefully document existing features, materials, utility services, topography, and environmental conditions etc. We encourage all decision-makers to be present during our discussions about your personal tastes, preferred garden style, construction budgets, and timelines etc., which will help us refine the Design Brief. After the survey, we will create an accurate Survey Plan using 2D CAD software, forming the foundation for all subsequent design work.

Our Design Process - Part 3.

Once your Survey Plan and Design Brief are finalized, our team will move on to creating a Sketch Design for your new garden space. This 2D, drawn to scale plan , will showcase our initial design concept and may include a Mood Board featuring proposed materials, stock imagery of suitable garden elements and 3D Sketches. The Sketch Design is designed to foster further discussions about the design process, allowing you to make initial amendments before we dive into the more detailed design work.

Our Design Process - Part 4.

Using your Sketch Design and requested modifications as our guide, we’ll develop a comprehensive Masterplan. This document serves as the bridge between your ideas and the physical build, providing our trusted installation partners with everything they need to break ground.

Your Masterplan includes an accurate 2D CAD layout with key dimensions, alongside a beautiful, annotated Planting Palette to set the tone for your greenery.

Why we do things differently: We believe garden design should be transparent and cost-effective. Because we work with a dedicated circle of trusted installers who know exactly how we build, we don’t need to charge you for dense technical specifications or "Tender Documents" that are often unnecessary for residential projects. This collaborative "shorthand" between designer and landscaper allows us to keep your design fees lower while maintaining the highest quality of craftsmanship.

Our Design Process - Part 5.

Our Garden Design service prioritizes affordability and flexibility, allowing clients to select the level of service they need throughout the design and build process. Our expertise in 3D design and visualization enables us to effectively convey design intent, particularly on challenging sites with significant changes in elevation. While 3D content isn't included in our Garden Design Masterplans as standard, we can incorporate it upon request or if deemed necessary. For large gardens with complex topography, we recommend our clients provide a Topographic Survey Plan from a professional land-surveyor, and we can connect you with trusted local experts who can undertake these on your behalf. Additionally, if you're interested in a detailed "Planting Plan," our extensive horticultural knowledge ensures we can create a tailored solution to meet your needs as an additional service.

Our Design Process - Part 6.

Once the Garden Design Masterplan has been finalized and signed off, we will invite one of our trusted partners to meet with you and David on-site. They will compare the design to the existing garden space and provide a quotation for constructing your dream garden. For more complex projects, we may engage up to three different contractors to obtain comparative quotations. After you've selected and appointed a contractor, the main design process concludes, and you'll have the option to manage the garden construction yourself or, for an fee, have us conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and coordinate with the contractor to resolve any minor design issues that may arise, sometimes making simple on-site "tweaks" to facilitate progress.

Our Design Process - Part 7.

Honesty and transparency are at the core of our services. We believe in allowing our clients to directly hire their installers and other professionals, ensuring that your investment goes towards-quality materials and planting rather than our financial gain.
